The Fifth Estate (T5E) is the official student media body of IIT Madras. It regularly publishes articles on courses, cultural and technical clubs, campus surroundings, and other aspects of student life, as well as covering relevant events such as student elections, student festivals, and sports meets. It also publishes opinions and humorous nonfiction.

Immerse, or IIT Madras Magazine on Research in Science and Engineering, is T5E's sister publication. An annual science magazine, it publishes a selection of the research accomplishments of IITM students, researchers, and faculty. It breaks down complex science and engineering concepts, making them accessible to a general audience.
