The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in collaboration with its
Student Legislative Council, proudly hosted the inaugural PAN IIT Student
Governance Summit 1.0. Over two days, more than 60 student leaders from
14 IITs united with a shared mission: to make a meaningful impact on
the future of student governance. With invaluable guidance from our Dean of
Students Prof. Sathyanarayan N Gummadi and Dean of Academic Courses Prof.
Prathap Haridoss, the summit sparked essential discussions around WAVES (Well-being
and Versatile Engagement Strategies), centering on student well-being,
adaptable engagement strategies, and collaborative solutions.
Throughout 10 engaging panel discussions, delegates tackled critical
topics, including mental health, academic policies, sustainable campus
practices, and research development. This summit aimed not only to address
present challenges but to cultivate a cohesive and supportive IIT community.
By fostering connections and embracing adaptable strategies, we are laying the
foundation for a future in student governance that prioritizes and responds to
the evolving needs of every IIT student.
